Express Employment Professionals is one of the largest privately owned staffing and recruiting companies and is seeking a practical, detail-oriented Foam Fabrication Technician to join our specialty manufacturing team in the Bronx. Unlike standard machine operator roles that rely on push-button automation, every order in our shop is unique. You will review daily customer specifications, select the proper foam stock from inventory, calculate cut plans to maximize material yield, and execute precise cuts using a band saw..


Job Type: Full-time (Overtime available)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Location: Factory / On-Site


Key Responsibilities

  • Review custom production orders and determine required piece dimensions.
  • Locate and select appropriate raw foam blocks from factory stock.
  • Calculate material yield using a standard calculator to determine how many finished pieces can be cut from a block with minimal waste.
  • Measure raw foam accurately before cutting.
  • Safely operate vertical and horizontal band saws to execute custom dimensions.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Tape Measure Proficiency: Must be able to read and measure accurately using a standard imperial tape measure (inches/fractions).
  • Practical Math Skills: Comfortable identifying standard fractions (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 5/8) and converting them to decimal form (0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 0.625).
  • Calculator Literacy: Ability to perform basic division on a standard calculator (e.g., dividing total length by decimal dimensions to determine cut counts).
  • Spatial Reasoning: Strong visual logic to plan how 3D blocks (12" x 12" x 12") can be sliced into smaller finished pieces.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently with changing daily job specifications.


Preferred Experience

  • Backgrounds in carpentry, woodworking, cabinet making, or custom trim work where manual material cutting and job-site estimation are routine.
  • Experience in hands-on trades requiring constant tape measure usage.


Working Conditions & Tools

  • Work takes place in an active manufacturing facility.
  • Tools provided: Tape measures, standard calculators, fraction-to-decimal charts, and band saws.
  • Computer programming, metric/caliper measuring, or CNC experience is not required.
