We are seeking a skilled Paint Prep Technician to join our in-house production team to ensure all parts are prepared to meet strict cosmetic and customer specifications before painting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean parts to ensure excellent paint adhesion and achieve required cosmetic grades.
- Follow detailed written masking instructions, Detailed Paint Process Instructions (DPPI), and Epicor comments.
- Conceal hardware using Bondo and execute advanced grinding and sanding techniques.
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering Team to develop optimum masking processes for new products.
- Set up and operate multiple prep processes and machines within the department.
- Train team members on process improvements and operational updates.
- Identify potential defect risks and suggest preventative measures to maintain quality control.
- Maintain necessary paperwork and utilize required formulas, theory, or basic programming for prep operations.
Requirements & Skills
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Working knowledge of machine set-ups with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Advanced grinding and sanding skills, including the ability to identify grit ratings and understand various oscillation types.
- Proficiency with hand tools, specifically sanders and grinders.
- Strong communication skills to provide constructive feedback on process improvements or discrepancies.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in other areas of the production floor as needed.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, including mandatory use of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
