Position Overview
The Agronomist plays a key role in providing technical agronomy support to customers, dealers, and sales staff. Using soil analysis data and extensive knowledge of Fertrell agronomy products, the Agronomist offers recommendations that enhance crop yield, soil health, and overall growing performance. The Agronomist helps customers make informed decisions, supports sales growth, and represents our products in the field and at industry events.
Key Responsibilities of the Agronomist
- Respond to agronomy questions from customers, salespersons, and dealers via phone, email, and in-person.
- Review soil tests and prepare recommendation reports aligned with best practices and customer budgets.
- Develop formulas for custom fertilizer blends based on soil analysis and agronomy recommendations.
- Provide technical information and product guidance to support Fertrell agronomy product sales.
- Prepare price quotes for Fertrell agronomy products as requested.
- Participate in customer visits with sales staff or dealers to provide on-site expertise.
- Maintain a basic understanding of Fertrell animal nutrition products and represent the full product line at events.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings.
- Deliver presentations as needed.
- Write agronomy-related articles for newsletters and blogs.
- Research and write product specifications for marketing materials.
- Provide certification or ingredient confirmation letters as required.
- Manage state registrations for agronomy products and oversee tonnage reporting.
- Plan and execute field trials using Fertrell agronomy products and communicate trial results through presentations and written content.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills: listening, speaking, and writing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel, including overnight trips.
- Professional appearance and ability to represent the company positively.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Agronomist Benefits include medical insurance, paid time off and holidays and bonus.
Agronomist Pay: $55,000-$70,000, depending on experience
Working Environment
This role is based in a standard office environment but includes extensive regional travel, including weekends or evenings when necessary.
Physical Requirements
Periodic walking and standing.
Occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs.
