Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Arborist Tree Climber Crew Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in professional tree climbing, pruning, and removals, with proven leadership abilities to manage a tree crew effectively. As Crew Lead, you will oversee daily arboricultural operations, ensure safe and efficient work practices, and help maintain the health and structure of trees on residential and commercial properties.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of tree climbers and ground crew on pruning, removals, cabling, and other tree care operations.
• Perform advanced tree climbing, rigging, and aerial lift work as needed.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times, including proper use of PPE, ropes, saws, and climbing systems.
• Train crew members on climbing techniques, equipment use, safety protocols, and tree care best practices.
• Assess tree health, structure, and risks to make informed recommendations for clients.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and other arborist tools and equipment.
• Coordinate daily schedules, delegate tasks, and communicate clearly with team members and clients.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, hazards identified, and equipment used.

Skills

• Proven experience in tree climbing and arboricultural operations.
• Strong understanding of tree biology, pruning standards (ANSI A300), and safe rigging techniques.
• Leadership ability to manage and motivate a field crew in challenging outdoor environments.
• Familiarity with industry safety standards (ANSI Z133) and equipment inspection.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Worker Climber Specialist certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• CDL or ability to drive commercial vehicles a plus.
