Description

• Champion safe test setup for battery assemblies and related components. This includes defining and performing procedures and checks to ensure test results are delivered on-time and with quality.

• Develop and manufacture special purpose instrumentation, cable and wiring assemblies, laboratory test equipment, and fixtures related to testing of battery assemblies or related components

• Perform physical duties involving large and heavy high voltage batteries including movement, shipping, and disposal

• Maintain records on work performed including data collected or analyzed

• Maintain awareness of Business Plan Deployment goals and objectives, identify and suggest relevant opportunities for improvement

• Develop, implement, and sustain workplace organization practices

• Maintain and communicate findings with engineering personnel through verbal or written means

• Recommend revisions to product or component design as needed

• Conduct or assist with Safety and Abuse testing as needed

• Conduct or assist with detailed teardown and analysis of battery cells, modules, and packs

• Conduct or assist with vibration testing including working above 6 ft and using cranes and rigging to move high voltage properties

• Able to successfully complete all required UAW GM training courses including respirator, cranes/hoist, Lockout etc

Team Focus:

  • Test execution for high-voltage EV batteries

Tasks Include:

Setting up and instrumenting devices under test (DUTs)

Monitoring tests in chambers

Performing initial inspections

Disassembling or building battery packs from scratch

Supporting engineering staff

Fabrication work (modifying packs or building fixtures)

Team Purpose: Initial inspection, build/disassemble battery packs

Key Projects: New EV batteries

Environment: Test facility, not production

Tasks: Instrumenting batteries, fabrication work

Environment:

  • Non-production, test facility
  • Safety Note: Must be comfortable working around high voltage; GM provides internal HV training
  • Exposure to new EV battery technology
  • Facility operates 24/7/365 with automated safety systems
  • Opportunity to work in a one-off GM test facility
  • Must have mechanical skills—hands on either test tech or vehicle tech
  • Degree preferred, not required
  • They will be testing batteries, disassembling the batteries to perform test
  • Tet set up, test operations, data collection, battery rebuild

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
