Job Description
Title : Project Engineer < PE License required >
Locations : Allentown, PA
Duration : Fulltime – Direct hire
Pay Range : $85,000 to $105,000/yearly + benefits
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Project Engineer is a professional with 10–15 years of experience. This individual will design and/or manage a variety of infrastructure projects for municipalities and local school districts and will report directly to a principal of the firm. Projects may include roads, underground utilities, public buildings, recreational facilities, and land use applications submitted by private developers. The position is based in Allentown, PA, and the surrounding areas.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Serve as the client manager for one or more municipalities or other public agencies, acting as the single point of contact between the firm and the client.
- Supervise and coordinate all projects performed by the firm on behalf of assigned clients, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Develop or implement engineering solutions to help clients improve and maintain their infrastructure.
- Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures using computer-assisted design or drawing tools.
- Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
- Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, or labor to assess project feasibility.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
- Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering issues and evaluate project impacts.
- Ensure all design activities comply with environmental, safety, and governmental regulations.
- Identify environmental risks and develop corresponding risk management strategies.
- Attend regularly scheduled public meetings in the capacity of Municipal Engineer or Land Use Board Engineer.
- Prepare and present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, project status, and development review projects.
- Provide technical advice to clients regarding design, construction, or capital program modifications.
- Support field activities of construction inspection staff by supplying timely data, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating with clients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Municipal engineering experience preferred but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to make public presentations.
- Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
