Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to join our team on the 2nd shift. This role involves repairing and maintaining large, heavy-duty diesel trucks. Our independent retail shop offers the opportunity to gain diverse skills on diesel trucks.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain large and heavy-duty diesel trucks.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis of diesel engines.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on brakes, transmissions, and hydraulics.
- Work on fleet, pneumatics, auto, and trailer repair.
- Utilize skills in welding, engine repair, and heavy equipment maintenance.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanic (auto or diesel).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience with diesel engines, brakes, transmissions, and fleet maintenance.
- Must own a set of hand and air tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Diesel or auto mechanic certifications are preferred but not required.
- A tech school degree is advantageous.
- Experience as a higher level lube tech or in heavy-duty truck and trailer repair.

Work Environment
Work in a 4-bay shop with 7 people per shift. The environment is more on the dirty side, but it is low-key and offers a chance to work in a hands-on, practical setting. Training on the 1st shift is required initially, with the potential to move to the 2nd shift based on experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
