  • Duration: Sep 21, 2026 to Sep 21, 2027 (366 Days) (12 months)

Ready for the next step?

Can you keep established CNC jobs running smoothly with minimal supervision? Do you know when to tweak an offset, swap a tool, or raise your hand when the process begins to drift? If so, this Level II role will let you put those instincts to work while you build toward more advanced capabilities.

Your impact

  • Run proven CNC jobs confidently and consistently.
  • Execute routine tool changes; make offset adjustments within preset limits.
  • Apply working knowledge of part orientation, datum strategy, and basic GD&T.
  • Leverage inspection results to sustain part-to-part consistency and quality.
  • Identify early signs of process instability and escalate appropriately.

Not in scope (for now)

  • Developing or heavily modifying CNC programs.
  • Complex or fully independent machine setups.
  • Root-causing advanced machining/process capability issues.
  • Owning process optimization or cycle-time reduction projects.

Grow your craft

  • Strengthen fundamentals in machine setup.
  • Gain exposure to 4-axis machining and rotary positioning.
  • Understand CNC program structure and safe edit practices.
  • Take a larger role in first-piece and setup verification.
  • Relate CMM results and SPC trends to machining decisions.

As you demonstrate capability, you’ll progress toward Machinist III responsibilities.

Must-haves

  • 2–4 years as a CNC machinist or operator; die cast or high-volume experience preferred.
  • Operational experience on 3-axis CNC equipment; 4-axis exposure is a plus.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and understand dimensional requirements.
  • Competence using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Basic understanding of tooling, inserts, and machining processes.
  • Detail-driven with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
