Metal Casting Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment used in both metal casting and powdered metal processing to produce high-quality products. This role ensures materials meet dimensional, chemical, and quality specifications while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment. Operators work closely with quality control, maintenance, engineering, and production teams to achieve production goals.
Essential Job Duties:
· Operate furnaces, casting equipment, presses, and powder processing machinery according to production orders and specifications.
· Charge furnaces with raw materials, and scrap; blend and prepare metal powders to meet chemical and physical requirements.
· Monitor and adjust process parameters, including temperature, pressure, compaction, and chemical composition, to ensure consistent product quality.
· Pour molten metal into molds, continuous casters or operate presses to compact powdered metals.
· Inspect in-process and finished products for dimensional accuracy, density, surface quality, and conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools.
· Use hand tools, power tools, and operating saws to cut metal.
· Perform routine inspections, crucible changeovers, cleaning, and basic maintenance of furnaces and related equipment.
· Billet assembly including welding
· Record production data, material usage, and inspection results in work orders and/or ERP systems.
· Operate cranes, hoists, or forklifts to safely move raw materials and finished products.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety and environmental regulations.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Pro-actively cooperate in shop floor fine scheduling of Foundry to optimize throughput.
· Provide Preventive Maintenance to induction furnaces and continuous casters, as well as other supporting equipment in Foundry and corresponding tooling to minimize unplanned downtime due to maintenance or tooling problems.
· Support ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (EH&S) Management System Processes.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Prior experience in foundry operations, powdered metal processing, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
· Mechanical aptitude with ability to operate, adjust, and maintain industrial equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
· Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety procedures.
· Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Physical Requirements/Safety:
· Ability to work in hot, noisy, and physically demanding environments.
· Must be able to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
· Must wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirator, heat-resistant clothing, and eye/face protection.
Pay Details: $22.00 per hour
