The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified part-time adult education instructor candidates.

About us:

SEIU 32BJ is a service union headquartered in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the New York City area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings
  • Experienced professionals looking to empower workers through relevant adult education

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement lesson plans aligned to program curriculum, incorporating provided educational materials
  • Teach content with a student-centered approach
  • Implement, adapt, and supplement lessons plans from our curriculum
  • Maintain and submit records of attendance
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
  • Participate in applicable professional development activities as available

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Able to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.
  • Appropriate license or certification required for some courses.

Classes offered:

  • Sessions are scheduled Monday through Saturday 9am to 9pm.
  • Teaching schedule is based on instructor’s availability during the times sessions are held.
