Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and show nights required

Derby Dinner Playhouse, a fast-paced, high-volume dinner theatre, is looking for an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. If you have a background in restaurants, catering, or banquets and enjoy preparing consistent, high-quality food for large groups, this is the perfect role for you.

About the Role

As a Cook at Derby Dinner Playhouse, you will play a key role in preparing buffet-style meals that serve large audiences during live theatre performances. You’ll work in a structured, team-focused kitchen ensuring timely and delicious food production in a fun, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook buffet-style menu items following established recipes and quality standards
Execute high-volume cooking and batch prep efficiently
Assist with pre-show preparations to ensure smooth service
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
Follow food safety, sanitation, and portion control guidelines
Properly store, rotate, and label ingredients and prepared foods
Collaborate closely with kitchen team members for timely and quality service
Support setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after shows

What We’re Looking For

1-2+ years of cooking experience in restaurants, catering, or banquet settings
Skilled in high-volume or batch cooking
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment
Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality work
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
