Job DescriptionBittersweet Farms is seeking a Full Time DSP Art Habilitation Specialist to assist in development and implementation of the Crafting Program. This role is responsible for leading the Crafting program. Responsibilities are to lead, guide, mentor, and provide direct support within the program area and develop a daily schedule of activities within the area for each participant. A successful candidate will work closely with all other program specialists to create and establish programs that meet the needs of the day program participants, and will continue to assist with all direct support needs within the organization.

This position will work to provide a variety of therapeutic activities (such as art projects, crafts, sensory activities, fine motor tasks, nature-based projects, outings and aerobic activities such as walking or biking). Must work to ensure the health and safety of participants while providing an environment that fosters both growth and development, and meaningful task engagement. The ideal candidate is creative, a self-starter, and passionate about engaging individuals in tasks that are meaningful to them.

Job Type: Full-time / Monday - Friday

Hours: 7:30a - 3:30p

Pay: $17.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Skills:

  • Perform a variety of duties related to organizing task schedules, participant task assignments, and prioritizing projects
  • Maintain inventory records and needs for the program area
  • Possess understanding and knowledge of art programs as well as the ability to be creative with projects and activities
  • Adhere to prescribed safety practices and procedures
  • Mentoring new staff in the program area on participants and procedures
  • Ensure all safety and security requirements are being met in the program area
  • Team approach to assigning and arranging tasks and activities within the area to meet programmatic needs

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of working with individuals with developmental disabilities/Autism
  • 2 years of leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to create schedules and activity plans strongly preferred
  • Experience with developing and teaching classes/workshops preferred

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Must have a Valid Driver License with ability to be insured
  • Must hold a H.S Diploma / GED

License/Certification:

  • Driver License (Required)

Work Location: In person
