Job Description

Practice Advancement Coach

\n

Woodard | Full time | Remote

\n

This role is for an experienced accounting, bookkeeping, or CAS professional who has moved into coaching. It is not an entry point for a professional coach who wants to learn the accounting profession.

\n

\n

About Woodard

\n

Woodard is a training and resource organization for accounting professionals. We provide education, coaching, community, and resources to the business advisors who serve small businesses. We have trained more than 150,000 accounting and business professionals, and we host Scaling New Heights and Woodard Summit. Our whole team is remote. We are vision driven and reserve our attention for clients who are ready to work on their practice and team members who are driven to be a part of a program that truly changes lives.

\n

\n

The role

\n

Our members are bookkeepers, accountants, and CAS practice owners who have engaged us to help them advance their practices. As a Practice Advancement Coach, you are the person who works with them to do it.

\n

You will carry a caseload of one-on-one coaching clients, facilitate live virtual cohorts through our courseware, facilitate execution workshops and roundtables, and contribute to the courseware itself.

\n

Our members run real practices with real payroll, real clients, and real pricing problems. They can tell within one session whether the person coaching them has sat in their chair. That is why this role starts with the profession and not with coaching methodology.

\n

One thing to be clear about up front: we do not teach accounting skills courses. Our courseware is built to give members the tools, knowledge, and support to advance their practice and transform their clients. Your job is to lead them through it and support them while they do that work.

\n

What we are looking for

\n

Required, and we mean required

\n

    \n
  • You have owned or led an accounting, bookkeeping, or CAS practice, or held a senior role inside one. This is a hard requirement, not a preference.
  • \n

  • You understand value pricing, capacity, and advisory service delivery from the inside, because you have had to make those decisions in a practice yourself
  • \n

  • Moderate to strong accounting knowledge, current enough that you can follow a member through their own numbers
  • \n

  • Strong business leadership knowledge
  • \n

\n

Also required

\n

    \n
  • Demonstrated coaching or facilitation experience with business owners or professionals
  • \n

  • Comfort leading live virtual sessions, both one-on-one and with groups
  • \n

  • Strong listening skills, and the judgment to know when to advise and when to ask
  • \n

  • Strong technical skills, specifically Microsoft products, HubSpot, Monday.com, Zoom, and general computer skills
  • \n

  • Willingness to travel at least three times a year, for our company off-site, Scaling New Heights, and Woodard Summit
  • \n

\n

Preferred

\n

    \n
  • CPA, EA, or a comparable credential
  • \n

  • Direct experience building or scaling a Client Advisory Services line
  • \n

  • A formal coaching credential
  • \n

\n

\n

What you will do

\n

Coaching

\n

    \n
  • Carry a caseload of one-on-one Premium coaching clients, meeting weekly or twice monthly depending on their tier
  • \n

  • Mentor Advantage level members through monthly meetings and accountability groups
  • \n

  • Contribute to how our coaching programs develop as the membership grows
  • \n

\n

Facilitation

\n

    \n
  • Facilitate live virtual cohorts through our courseware on practice advancement and client advisory topics
  • \n

  • Facilitate execution workshops where members apply the material to their own practice
  • \n

  • Facilitate weekly member roundtables on a rotation with the rest of the coaching team
  • \n

  • Review student homework, and provide backup facilitation for other coaches when they need it
  • \n

\n

Courseware

\n

    \n
  • Collaborate on course development and the ongoing improvement of the material you facilitate
  • \n

\n

Community

\n

    \n
  • Contribute regularly in our online member community
  • \n

\n

Events

\n

    \n
  • Coach and support programming at Woodard Summit and Scaling New Heights™
  • \n

  • Support the Woodard booth and membership events on site
  • \n

  • Travel at least three times a year: our company off-site each January, Scaling New Heights each June, and Woodard Summit each November
  • \n

\n

\n

Compensation and benefits

\n

    \n
  • Base salary of $90,000, plus an annual performance bonus tied to the revenue allocated to your coaching work, with no cap. The base is a floor and the bonus grows with the portfolio you build.
  • \n

  • Health insurance, with Woodard covering 50% of your individual premium, eligible after 30 days
  • \n

  • 401(k) with employer match, eligible after 90 days
