Job DescriptionDescription:
Enterprise Architect:
At B&A, we foster and embrace a distinct set of values that we live by and instill in all aspects of our organization: dedication, commitment, partnership, trust, and recognition. We have incorporated these values into successful delivery for our customers since 1988. B&A believes in ensuring its employees feel deeply connected to B&A, recognizing successes and hard work, and providing continuous opportunities to learn and grow. Our people are entrepreneurial thinkers that combine mindset, vision, and experience to drive value – not only to us as an organization, but to the clients we support. We promote a collaborative culture with our clients, and with each other, as one team working towards a common vision. We’d love for you to join our team!
Job Summary:
B&A is looking for an Enterprise Architect to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. As our Enterprise Architect, you will be the strategic technology ally for senior leadership, translating business vision into robust, secure, and scalable enterprise architectures for both corporate and mission-critical operational lines. You will set the functional and technical standards that guide IT and Operations, shape future-state roadmaps, and ensure every technology investment drives measurable value and readiness for contingency operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level architectural expertise to executives, program managers, and technical teams.
- Develop, maintain, and socialize “as-is” and “to-be” architectures (DoDAF, TOGAF, or equivalent) covering business, data, application, and technology domains.
- Chair or participate in architecture review boards, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and compliance mandates.
- Advise on selection and integration of technologies related to processing, data storage, data access, and application development (cloud, edge, on-prem).
- Conduct trade studies and total-cost-of-ownership analyses to inform capital planning and procurement.
- Establish functional and technical standards, best practices, and policies for IT and Operations.
- Lead governance processes that monitor adherence to architecture principles, cybersecurity controls, and data-management policies.
- Leverage at least eight years of contingency contracting experience to ensure architectures are resilient, expeditionary, and capable of rapid deployment in austere environments.
- Evaluate and integrate contingency tools (e.g., JOCAS, COR/TOPS, ACES-FO) into enterprise solutions.
- Assess emerging mission requirements, conduct gap analyses, and deliver concise feasibility reports (cost, schedule, risk) to senior decisionmakers.
- Recommend phased implementation plans that balance innovation with sustainment of legacy assets.
Education and Experience:
- 8+ years in contingency contracting and/or hands-on management/use of contingency tools, plus demonstrable success in enterprise or solution architecture roles for large, complex organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge of DoDAF, TOGAF, or Zachman; Agile/DevSecOps delivery environments.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), data-management solutions (data lakes/warehouses, Snowflake, Databricks), microservice and container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift), and modern integration patterns (APIs, ESBs, event streaming).
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills; proven ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to influence enterprise-level decisions.
Security Clearance
- Must hold an active secret clearance.
