JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Diesel Mechanic with strong hydraulic system experience to join our team. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery in the field. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, highly dependable, and able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions year-round.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and control systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Respond to field service calls in a timely and professional manner
- Accurately document repairs, parts used, and labor time
- Maintain organized tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Stand/walk frequently the combination of standing and walking up to a 10-hour shift
- Bend/stoop/twist occasionally in labor positions
- Repetitive use of hands
- -Grasping tools frequently
- -Reach/push/pull frequently - moving materials
- Lift/carry - up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Good vision and hearing
- Ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Comprehend detailed instructions, written or oral, and plan steps to carry out essential functions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
QUALIFICATIONS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Minimum 2-5 years of diesel mechanic experience
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems (required)
- Experience with heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dump trucks, etc.) preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and hydraulic schematics
- Valid drivers license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in a mobile environment
- Must have own professional-grade tools
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.)
