Randolph-Macon College seeks applications for a full-time Farm/Stable Worker to work at its RMC Equestrian Center. The Center is located three miles from our Ashland campus, boasts 70 acres of pasture, has space for 56 horses, and includes an indoor riding arena, two large outdoor areas, and space for riding outside.
Responsibilities
- Primary duties include assisting with the daily care of all horses and ponies stabled or kept on premises, owned by the college, boarded or on lease. This includes handling of horses bringing in and turning out, feeding, watering, blanketing and observing horses for injury or illness and maintaining the cleanliness of the barn and surrounding property.
- Secondary duties include basic farm work: overall care and presentation of facility, fence repair, cutting grass, weed eating, ring maintenance, trash removal, etc.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED along with experience working with horses and farm equipment.
- Prior experience as a farm/stable worker required.
- Comfort level in working and physically handling horses on the farm
- The position is classified as essential personnel by the College.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory motor vehicle record by insurance standards.
