Job Overview:
Were seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diagnostic Technician to join our maintenance team. This position focuses primarily on advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting for heavy-duty trucks and trailers, ensuring our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics, excellent diagnostic skills, and familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct advanced diagnostics to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Utilize diagnostic equipment and software (OEM systems, scan tools) to perform accurate and efficient troubleshooting.
Diagnose and repair ABS braking systems, ensuring proper function and compliance with safety regulations.
Clearly document diagnostics, repairs, and procedures in company systems.
Provide guidance and support to mechanics in complex or advanced troubleshooting situations.
Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, emissions systems, transmissions, electrical components, ABS braking systems, and air-brake systems.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry regulations.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions in the diagnostic bay and throughout the shop.
Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience as a Diesel or Heavy-Duty Diagnostic Technician.
Must be familiar with full diagnostics on all platforms, including TechTool, Diagnostic Link, INSITE Cummins, and DAVIE4.
Must be familiar with maintenance and repair on all major engines, including Detroit, PACCAR, Cummins, and Volvo engines.
Experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of ABS braking systems.
Extensive knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, electrical/electronic systems, emissions systems, and drivetrain components.
Strong experience using diagnostic tools (e.g., OEM scan tools, JPRO, Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, etc.).
ASE certification or equivalent OEM certifications preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
Valid drivers license; CDL is a plus.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to mentor junior mechanics or technicians.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable standing, kneeling, bending, or working in confined spaces for extended periods.
Willingness to work in varied conditions (outdoors, noisy, dusty, etc.).
