Job DescriptionJob Summary/Company: Sparks Group has partnered with a leading home automation company and together we're seeking a passionate and skilled Electronics Lab Technician to join the cutting-edge Device Engineering team. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the functionality of the state-of-the-art lab, ensuring efficient operations, and providing essential support to our Hardware (HW) and Firmware (FW) engineering teams. Your tasks will include reworking printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), troubleshooting test equipment, managing inventory, and maintaining high standards in a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine system checks on various test instruments (e.g., power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers) to ensure they are operating properly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with test instruments as needed.
- Prepare and package instruments for calibration according to company standards.
- Coordinate with calibration service providers to ensure timely calibration of instruments.
- Maintain a well-organized inventory of lab materials, including components, tools, and supplies.
- Restock lab materials as needed to ensure continuous availability of necessary resources.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and update records to ensure accuracy.
- Perform rework on PCBAs, including component removal, replacement, and wiring assembly.
- Keep detailed records of lab activities, including system checks, calibration, inventory management, and rework tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment to ensure safe and efficient work conditions.
- Interface with engineers to receive task lists and report progress on a bi-weekly basis.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Proven experience with electrical and RF engineering lab instruments such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Intermediate soldering skills, with experience in reworking PCBAs and wiring assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Solid written communication skills for documenting activities, challenges, and progress.
- Familiarity with calibration processes and standards is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
