Are you looking for more than just a job? We are seeking a motivated, physically fit, and technically-minded individual to join our team as an Elevator Mechanic Apprentice. This is a 3-year career-track position that combines hands-on field experience with a structured apprenticeship program, leading to your professional licensure.
The Role
You will work directly under a Licensed Elevator Mechanic, assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of elevators, vertical platform lifts, and stairlifts across the state of Montana.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Assist with the installation and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Safety & Power: Work safely with both AC and DC power systems. Understanding electrical schematics and wiring is a core part of the daily work.
- Proactive Assistance: Learn to anticipate the Mechanic’s needs, manage tools (air, battery, and hand tools), and maintain an organized workspace.
- Documentation: Study equipment manuals to identify parts and understand system operations before beginning tasks.
The Apprenticeship Program
This is a 3-year commitment to your professional growth.
- Hands-on Training: Daily mentorship from licensed professionals.
- Academic Rigor: Required bookwork and self-study. You must pass modular tests with a minimum grade of 85% to progress.
- The Goal: Upon successful completion of the 3-year program and final testing, you will earn your license as an Elevator Mechanic, providing immense job security and increased earning potential.
Physical Requirements & Travel
- Physical Fitness: This is a highly physical role. You must be able to move briskly and work in varied environments.
- Heavy Lifting: Frequently lift 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
- Statewide Travel: Montana is big, and so is our reach. Frequent out-of-town trips are required for installations and maintenance.

Qualifications
- Technical Background: Previous experience as an electrician, electrical apprentice, or a strong background in electrical/mechanical systems is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Mindset: A "safety-first" attitude, a hunger to learn, and the discipline to handle independent study.
- License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
