Job Description
We are seeking a skilled DevOps - Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain cloud and DevOps infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
This role offers the opportunity to work with a great team on data-intensive workflows, bioinformatics pipelines, and scientific information systems while serving as a technical subject-matter expert across multiple teams.

- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: 6 months Contract-to-Hire position
- Location: San Diego, CA Hybrid (3 days onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
- Compensation: Salary starting at $120-128K, upon conversion to client employee, plus a target bonus program and a comprehensive benefits package.
Cloud & Automation
- Design & Build: Create secure AWS environments for scientific and lab data.
- Infrastructure as Code: Use Terraform/CloudFormation to automate and scale deployments.
- Modern Architecture: Manage microservices and serverless systems.
DevOps & CI/CD
- GitHub Management: Oversee repositories, workflows, and access.
- Pipelines: Build and maintain automated code delivery (CI/CD) for internal and lab tools.
- Containerization: Use Docker and Kubernetes to automate software deployments.
Systems & Monitoring
- Server Management: Maintain Linux/Windows servers and high-performance computing (HPC).
- Performance: Optimize storage and networking for large scientific datasets.
- Reliability: Set up monitoring and alerts (Prometheus/Grafana) to ensure 24/7 uptime.
Security & Compliance
- Data Protection: Secure patient and research data.
- Regulations: Ensure systems meet HIPAA, GxP, and FDA standards.
Collaboration
- Support Teams: Help scientists and developers move their work into production.
- Expert Advice: Act as the go-to person for cloud and DevOps guidance.
Experience & Education
- Degree: Bachelor’s in CS, IT, or Bioinformatics (or equivalent experience).
- Background: 3+ years in DevOps/Systems Engineering; Biotech/Healthcare experience preferred.
- Cloud: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS certification preferred).
