Position Overview
The Competitive Gymnastics Coach will work alongside our Director of Team and other competitive coaches to develop and mentor DDGNA’s Xcel athletes. Competing in bronze through sapphire levels, Team Dawes is proud to coach and send athletes to regional and national events showcasing their advanced skills. This position demands a driven professional with a deep love for the sport of gymnastics. Even more, the desire to deliver a positive, safe and quality experience is a non-negotial for a Team Dawes Coach. A deep understanding of advanced techniques, competition strategy, and the ability to foster a high-performance mindset in young athletes is a must. The ideal candidate is upbeat. positive, and have genuine care about the holistic success of our athletes.

Job Type: Part-time (Hourly)
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedule: Day, Evenings, and Weekends
Travel: Required for meetings, training, and team events/competitions.Responsibilities

  • Design and execute training programs aligned with USAG competition standards.
  • Hold yourself and athletes accountable to all DDGNA and USAG standards and rules.
  • Coach athletes to master advanced techniques and routines required for competition.
  • Prepare athletes for high-pressure meets, focusing on precision, confidence, and peak performance.
  • Mentor athletes in goal-setting, mental resilience, and long-term career development in gymnastics.
  • Oversee competition logistics, including choreography, equipment checks, and team coordination.
  • Attend competitions with your team to support them and provide support throughout the meet.
  • Collaborate with parents, judges, and other coaches to support athlete success.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and rules to maintain competitive relevance.
  • Promote a culture of positivity, commitment, and teamwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Two plus years of experience coaching competitive gymnastics, with a proven record of developing successful athletes.
  • USAG professional membership and SafeSport certification required.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills to guide athletes in high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional technical expertise and ability to execute effective training regimens.
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods throughout the coaching shift.
  • Ability to actively spot and physically assist gymnasts in skills, which may involve lifting or supporting athletes of various sizes.
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and monitor athletes' technique, performance, and safely participate in a high-energy environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a loud, fast-paced gym environment.
