JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Facilities Manager
Reports to: Operations Manager
Supervises: Not Applicable
The Facilities Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and safety of a manufacturing facility. This role ensures that the physical infrastructure, utilities, equipment, and systems support efficient production while complying with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and monitor contracts related to facilities cleaning, preventative maintenance and systems that supply manufacturing and office environments.
Ensure proper records are maintained for all services, including service rendered, all scheduled and non-scheduled services and correct billing practices.
Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces
Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed
Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals
Maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities, such as delegating or completing maintenance orders
Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff
Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions
Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilities needs
Provide facilities support for all manufacturing needs while collaborating with various departments.
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS
Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
Experience dealing with semi hazardous materials
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members
Great time management, organization and prioritization abilities
Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time
ACCOUNTABILITIES/ SCOPE
Oversee all maintenance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety).
Implement and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for the facility and equipment.
Ensure facility uptime to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Ensure the facility complies with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local regulations.
Maintain safety systems, emergency response plans, and conduct periodic drills.
Lead or support audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
4+ years of facilities or plant management experience in a manufacturing setting.
Strong knowledge of building systems and manufacturing equipment.
