Job Description
We are currently working with a top tier workers' compensation practice on several hires across their offices, please includes a mid level associate to join their growing New York location.
The Role
This role will play an important roles in defending employers and insurance carriers in complex workers' compensation matters. You will manage your own caseload while collaborating closely with senior partners to develop defense strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a dedicated caseload of workers' compensation defense files from inception through resolution.
- Conduct legal research, analyze medical records, and draft comprehensive pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Prepare for and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and appellate proceedings.
- Take and defend depositions of claimants, medical experts, and fact witnesses.
- Negotiate settlements and draft complex settlement agreements.
What the firm is looking for:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing with the NY or NJ Bar. (Dual admission is a plus).
- 2+ years of litigation experience, with a strong background in workers' compensation defense.
