Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to our client’s Steam Turbine Engineering team. This position will be responsible for providing technical oversight, advanced engineering expertise, and leadership in optimizing and maintaining Steam Turbines and supporting systems. The Senior Engineer will play a key role in improving system reliability, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring operational success across the fleet of assets, with a focus on the Carolinas region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Provide advanced engineering solutions, guidance, and technical oversight for the Steam Turbine and supporting systems.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Develop strong working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including OEMs, vendors, planners, and turbine specialists.
  • Outage Planning & Execution: Oversee outage planning, estimation, scheduling, and monitoring of activities.
  • Onsite Engineering Support: Provide "boots on the ground" support during planned or emergent outages and other key events, ensuring proper execution and troubleshooting of issues as they arise. When not onsite, engage in planning, root cause analysis, and process documentation to enhance future maintenance activities.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare accurate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and process enhancements related to Steam Turbine operations and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of related work experience in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, with a focus on Steam Turbines and supporting systems.
  • Licensing: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) may be required for certain departments.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in using OSI PI Vision (or PI Process Book) and Microsoft Office software utilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects across various locations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Travel is required 25-35% of the time to various field locations after the initial onboarding period. Field employees must live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
