Cisco Network Engineer
Our client, a well-established power company is growing. They were established over 20 years ago and are looking to add a Network Engineer to their IT team. This is a direct hire opportunity and has an in-office schedule 5 days a week.
Role Overview:
The Network Engineer ensures the organization's networks (LAN, WAN, intranet, and extranet) function optimally with 99% uptime. Responsibilities include configuring systems, installing and upgrading network devices, and maintaining system integrity and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, VPNs).

Diagnose and resolve network issues; communicate updates to stakeholders.

Implement and monitor network security measures.

Monitor and optimize network performance.

Conduct system upgrades, patches, and backups.

Replace faulty hardware and update access rules for Cisco devices.
Scope & Collaboration:
Reports to the IT Manager, working closely with infrastructure and application teams in a regulated environment.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field with a focus on networking

3+ years of network engineering experience; CCNP preferred

Expertise in network infrastructure, protocols, and hardware

Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies

Power and/or electricity industry experience is desired

Work schedule is in the office in Houston 5 days a week
