The Sr. Application Developer will play a critical role in supporting the Department of
Veterans Affairs (VA) through the enhancement, maintenance, and sustainment of
custom-built web applications and associated databases. This position is part of a high-
impact team responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and user-centered software
solutions at the Atlanta Technology Center (ATC). The developer will collaborate with
stakeholders to gather requirements, design and implement new features, troubleshoot
technical issues, and ensure that applications meet performance, security, and
accessibility standards.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Support and maintain internal and public facing websites for applications written in
- ASP.NET (VB.NET/C#), ASP Classic, PHP, and JavaScript.
- Design, develop, and maintain local and national Microsoft SQL databases and related ETL processes.
- Collaborate with the business stakeholders, engineers, and developers to define project requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshoot system/application issues using logs and performance monitoring tools.
- Reverse engineer undocumented code bases, independently understand system behavior, and produce clear, structured documentation to support future development and maintenance.
- Implement and maintain version control, software change management, and release pipelines.
- Support AWS cloud migration activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
- Proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, SQL, and HTML/CSS is a must-have.
MS SQL Server development and support is a must-have. - Experience with AWS migration is preferred.
- Minimum 7 years related work experience in software development or a related field.
- Experience in full-stack development for web applications and data processes.
- Experience in the Federal Government contracting industry and/or familiarity working with the VA is strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Critical thinking and adaptability to address changing priorities or requirements.
