At MGX Equipment Services, we keep critical lifts on schedule. From our Winston Salem, NC branch, you’ll be the on-site expert customers rely on—reporting to the Service Manager and bringing cranes back to peak performance.

Imagine this

A contractor’s boom truck throws a fault mid-project. You arrive, interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics, run diagnostics, and implement a safe, effective fix. You complete the inspection checklist, update the work order and time sheet, and walk the customer through what you found. Job done—safely and professionally.

Your mission

  • Perform inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes and boom trucks.
  • Conduct thorough annual inspections and clearly document results.
  • Work independently without direct supervision while delivering top-tier service.
  • Accurately complete work orders, hours overviews, timekeeping, and expense reports.
  • Support additional service tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in electrical and hydraulic systems; competent reading of schematics.
  • History of preventative maintenance and light repairs (oil changes, brake work, etc.).
  • Up to 50% travel for jobsites and training.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.
  • Background with mobile cranes or heavy equipment is advantageous.

Preferred profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year as a crane technician/mechanic.

Work life

  • Full-time; typically 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • Overtime and some weekends as business needs arise.
  • Environmental exposure to weather, temperature extremes, dust, fumes, odors, and noise.
  • Physical activities may include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent lifting/moving up to 40 lbs; vision demands include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

  • Always work safely and wear required PPE.
  • Follow facility and job-specific safety procedures.
  • Engage in safety training and demonstrate competency.
  • Raise safety concerns and correct issues when possible.

Compensation and support

  • Pay range: $25.00–$45.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
  • $4,500 sign-on bonus paid after 90 days of continuous service.
  • Tool Reimbursement Program up to $1,500 per calendar year.
  • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
