Position Title: Bakery Clerk

Department: Bakery Department

Position Reports To: Bakery Dept. Head, Store Manager & Asst. Store Manager

Position Summary:

Prepare and display Bakery items for sale in accordance with Dillon standards & policies. Wait on customers and

provide customer services.

Essential Job Functions:

Prepare and display Bakery foods in accordance with company standards, recipes, & policies.

Check product quality; make sure it is always fresh and safe.

Keep carts, tools, and supplies in their designated areas.

Keep floors, clean, safe, and free from clutter.

Wrap products as instructed and maintain proper inventory levels.

Increase store sales and profits.

Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with Company and Health Department policies and procedures.

Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.

Wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully. Greet customers and provide them with good quality

foods.

Follow all current rules and duties of the Bakery, Company, and State and Federal laws, as made known.

Must keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.

Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.

Able to effectively communicate with customers and associates.

Adhere to company policies & procedures, particularly in the areas of dress code, grooming, food safety,

sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.

Assist as needed or assigned on special projects such as periodic inventories, catering, weddings, events, etc.

Perform any and all duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, training materials, bulletins, etc.

Ability to multi-task and set priorities.

Personal initiative and follow through to completion.

Strong communication skills and diplomacy when dealing with people.

Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the

department.

Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and

customers.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Bakery work experience or similar experience in food preparation.

Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food

handling, etc.

Physical Demands:

Standing & Walking – Frequent standing & walking. Estimated total time 7.5 hrs. Maximum continuous time

up to 4 hrs.

Sitting – Rarely required. Estimated total time 30 mins. Maximum continuous time 30 mins.

Lifting & Carrying – Max weight 50 lbs., average weight 10-15 lbs., distance carried 1-5 feet. Must

frequently lift items under 10 lbs. and items between 11-50 lbs., and rarely lift 51-100 lbs.

Pushing & Pulling – Frequent pushing & pulling flat bed, grocery cart, supply cart, and tray rack across store.

Climbing – Frequently climbing step ladder or step stool ranging from 1.5 feet to 3 feet tall.

Other – This position also requires frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling, as well as constant use of either

arm or both for reaching in all directions. Other requirements include twisting, neck flexion/extension, cervical

rotation, frequent forearm movement, and frequent or sustained awkward wrist positions.

Work Conditions – Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, sudden changes in temperature & sharp edges.
