Senior Project Architect / Project Architect – QA/QC - Retail, Rollout, Grocery

Washington, DC | Full-Time

Hybrid Schedule (2 Days In-Office / 3 Days Remote) | Fully Remote Option (DC / EST Region)

The Position: We are seeking a Senior Project Architect / Project Architect to support our growing Washington, DC market and national retail programs. This role will lead the technical execution of retail rollout and store planning projects, working closely with Project Managers, clients, and internal design teams to ensure high-quality delivery across multiple locations and jurisdictions. The ideal candidate has strong experience in retail architecture, grocery store planning, or national rollout programs and thrives in a fast-paced environment managing prototype-driven projects.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead technical design and construction documentation for national retail rollout programs.
  • Coordinate project delivery from design development through construction administration.
  • Ensure projects align with prototype standards, brand guidelines, and rollout requirements.
  • Oversee production and coordination of construction document sets across multiple store locations.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams throughout project phases.
  • Support permitting, code analysis, and jurisdictional approvals across multiple markets.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and construction administration tasks.
  • Maintain quality control and consistency across multi-location rollout projects.
  • Support Project Managers in schedule coordination and project execution.
  • Contribute to team mentorship and technical leadership within the studio.


What You Need (Qualifications)

  • 8–12+ years of experience in architecture or project architecture roles.
  • Licensed Architect or NCARB Registered Architect required.
  • Strong experience with QA/QC
  • Project experience with retail, rollout, store planning, or grocery store projects.
  • Proven ability to lead construction documentation and technical coordination.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and construction documentation.
  • Experience coordinating consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a rollout environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with internal teams and clients.
