Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to support process equipment and piping projects in the Food, Beverage and Chemical sectors. The role requires hands-on design using SolidWorks, development and interpretation of PFDs and P&IDs, equipment selection and specification, and leading commissioning activities to ensure safe, hygienic and code-compliant installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings in SolidWorks for process equipment, skids and piping systems.
  • Develop, review and update PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) in collaboration with process and instrumentation teams.
  • Perform piping design including routing, isometrics, support and stress considerations, material selection and line-sizing calculations.
  • Select and specify process equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, valves, seals) and prepare procurement packages and vendor evaluations.
  • Lead and support commissioning, FAT/SAT and start-up activities, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure systems meet performance and cleanliness requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, inspection plans and as-built drawings; ensure compliance with industry codes and customer hygiene/specification standards.
  • Coordinate with multidiscipline teams (process, electrical, automation, QA, site services) and with vendors and contractors to ensure project milestones and quality targets are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons-learned, cost-effective design choices and optimization for manufacturability and hygienic cleaning where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of mechanical/process engineering experience, ideally in Food & Beverage or Chemical process industries.
  • Proven proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and detailed drawing production.
  • Demonstrated experience in piping design, line sizing, supports and isometrics.
  • Strong ability to develop and interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Experience with equipment selection, specification writing and vendor evaluation for pumps, heat exchangers, tanks and valves.
  • Hands-on commissioning experience (FAT/SAT), start-up support and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) and hygienic design requirements for food/beverage applications.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate across disciplines and with external vendors.
