Summary
The Systems Engineer provides knowledge and technical skills to implement technical strategies, evaluate products and provide a superior level of technical support that benefit the company.
The Systems Engineer serves as the EO/IR sensor operator on testing and training flights, and is responsible for ensuring the EO/IR sensor is properly maintained. The Systems Engineer provides integration troubleshooting to support customer modifications, as well as troubleshooting training support equipment such as video, datalink, networking configuration, and air to ground communications.
Essential Functions
- Prompt and Regular Attendance.
- Coordinates and/or performs additions and changes to system hardware and attached devices; includes configuration, installation and testing of new system hardware and software.
- Provides direct support in the day-to-day operations on system hardware; duties include EO/IR sensor operations, configuration of air to ground communications, system integration support, and datalink operations.
- Troubleshoots at the physical level, working with electronic measurement hardware, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices, at the logical level working with communication protocols.
- Provides technical consultation, training and support as designated by manager and supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned may including but not limited to assisting Engineering Department with drafting functions, Scenario Actor functions, and flight line operations.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Frequent evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel to other customer sites within the continental United States will be required, with occasional OCONUS travel to be expected.
Required Education and Experience
- One to two years' of experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems.
- Working knowledge of PCs, network hardware, operating systems and software.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
- Experience with setup and operation of air to ground communications equipment.
- Strong computer network troubleshooting skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English.
Other Hiring Requirements
- Valid Drivers License.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a United States Security Clearance.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a passport.
- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
