**Job Title: Experienced Certified Paralegal - Special Education Law**
**Location:** Studio City
**Position Type:** Full-Time
**Job Description:**
The Law Off of GJK is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Paralegal with ideally a strong background in Special Education Law, but not necessary. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our legal team, providing vital support in handling cases, managing voluminous phone inquiries, and ensuring precise and professional communication. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated paralegal to contribute to meaningful work that impacts the lives of students with disabilities and their families.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist attorneys in all phases of special education law cases, from initial consultation to resolution.
- Conduct legal research and gather pertinent information related to special education regulations and compliance.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including briefs, motions, and pleadings, ensuring all documentation adheres to court requirements and deadlines.
- Manage a high volume of phone inquiries, providing clear and concise information to clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed case files and ensure that all documents are organized and easily accessible.
- Draft correspondence and other legal documents with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, and other parties involved in cases.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with significant experience in special education law.
- Paralegal certification or relevant legal education.
- Ideal if some knowledge of special education laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of phone inquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with families and children in educational settings.
- Familiarity with local and state special education policies and procedures.
