This role will help build a secure, scalable, and high-performance digital health platform. The incumbent will play a key role in designing and developing APIs, services, and infrastructure to power our member and client experiences. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about healthcare, privacy, and building elegant systems in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and reliable server-side components and APIs.
- Work closely with Product and Front End teams to define system architecture and data flow.
- Implement microservices using TypesScript, Node.js, and NestJS, and manage deployments in AWS environments.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST requirements through strong engineering practices.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using Docker, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Monitor, debug, and improve backend performance, reliability, and observability.
- Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate documentation and unit/integration tests.
- Collaborate cross-functionally in agile sprints using Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor degree preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 10+ years of experience in backend software development, including SaaS or digital health platforms.
- Expertise in TypeScript/Node.js, with strong understanding of RESTful APIs and GraphQL servers.
- Proficiency with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, and ECS.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
- Strong knowledge of microservices, security best practices, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST).
- Experience using Docker, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with iterative development cycles.
- Desire to master a variety of AI tools to reduce coding time and enhance backend development or automation processes.
