Direct Counsel is seeking a Data Strategy, Security & Privacy Associate Attorney to join a leading national law firm with a highly regarded litigation and cybersecurity practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated associate to work on sophisticated cybercrime, data security, and privacy matters as part of a collaborative, fast-growing team.
The Opportunity
The firm is looking for a lateral associate with 2–4 years of experience to support its Data Strategy, Security & Privacy group. The practice advises clients on high-stakes cybersecurity incidents, government and internal investigations, and complex regulatory compliance issues in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Qualifications

Admission to the Washington, D.C. Bar

2–4 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or government setting

Experience in cybersecurity law, government investigations, and crisis management
-
Large law firm or government experience preferred
-
Strong academic credentials
Preferred Background

Background or significant experience in computer science, information technology, and/or engineering

Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity laws and industry standards, including:

Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)

CMMC 2.0

SEC Cybersecurity Disclosure Rule

Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA)

GLBA Safeguards Rule

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $235,000 – $310,000 (Washington, D.C./Tysons), commensurate with experience
