POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team. This role focuses on supporting and maintaining the company’s core IT infrastructure, including

Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, and networking components, while providing end-user support and assisting with cybersecurity initiatives.The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of systems administration, a passion for cloud technologies and cybersecurity, and is eager to grow their technical skill set in a collaborative environment. This role will also involve desktop support responsibilities to ensure a smooth IT experience for all users.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with administration and support of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and security/compliance features.
  • Support and maintain Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and on-premises Active Directory including users, groups, and access permissions.
  • Assist with identity and access management (IAM) tasks, including MFA, Conditional Access policies, and group-based licensing.
  • Provide backend support for endpoint management via Intune (MEM) including device enrollment, compliance policies, and application deployment.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, working alongside senior team members to investigate incidents.
  • Assist with network device administration including basic switch configuration, firewall rules, and VPN management under guidance.
  • Participate in the rollout of new technologies and system upgrades.
  • Document systems, processes, and changes clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with peers, vendors, and management on infrastructure projects and daily operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues across user devices.
  • Build strong relationships with users to enhance trust in IT and improve overall support experience.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of infrastructure layout, asset locations, and connectivity.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Monitor support tickets and email queues, prioritizing issues based on urgency and operational impact.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned tasks and seek guidance when needed to align with team goals.
  • Work alongside vendors during onsite network-related projects or troubleshooting efforts.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies relevant to desktop and network support.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline support processes and improve infrastructure reliability.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing with other team members to raise overall team capability.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Security & Compliance Center).
  • Basic experience with Azure AD and on-premises Active Directory.
  • Interest in networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls).
  • Strong desire to learn about cybersecurity best practices.
  • Proficient with Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Effective multitasking and time management in high-demand environments. Preferred/Pluses
  • Experience with Intune, PowerShell scripting, or Azure resource management.
  • Relevant certifications such as:
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Microsoft certifications: AZ-900, MS-900, SC-900
  • Familiarity with Fortinet, Cisco, or Meraki networking equipment.
  • Exposure to SIEM tools or cybersecurity frameworks.
