Quality Specialist Technologist, Anatomic Pathology

Position Summary

The Quality Specialist Technologist, Anatomic Pathology works under minimal supervision in a moderate and high-complexity Anatomic Pathology laboratory. This advanced-level position assists department supervisors and managers with executing quality requirements, operational priorities and continuous improvement initiatives.\n

Core Responsibilities

    \n
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the core responsibilities of a Histotechnologist and perform laboratory duties as assigned
  • \n

  • Attend monthly quality meetings and other required meetings
  • \n

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the department’s Quality Management Program
  • \n

  • Ensure employees are assigned the appropriate QMS job codes and departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • \n

  • Assist employees with navigating electronic document control and learning management systems
  • \n

  • Perform Anatomic Pathology quality onboarding activities
  • \n

  • Help prepare monthly metrics and presentation materials for quality review meetings
  • \n

  • Support the identification, investigation and resolution of nonconforming events, including CAPAs, issue reviews, customer complaints and planned deviations
  • \n

  • Assist department personnel with navigating quality event and CAPA systems
  • \n

  • Train employees on quality processes and the identification and reporting of nonconforming events
  • \n

  • Ensure audit findings are closed with complete and appropriate documentation
  • \n

  • Assist operational management with maintaining an inspection-ready laboratory

  • \n

Education And Experience

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science, medical technology or a related field; OR
  • \n

  • Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; OR
  • \n

  • Equivalent education consisting of 60 semester hours, including 24 semester hours in biological and chemical sciences
  • \n

  • Two or more years of histology or high-complexity laboratory testing experience preferred
  • \n

  • Advanced understanding of general laboratory practices and department-specific techniques
  • \n

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • \n

  • HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification required

  • \n

Salary range - $80 - 95K\n
