We are seeking a talented Plant Chief Engineer to join our team.
The Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for the daily repair and preventative maintenance of industrial textile processing equipment and facility maintenance. The Chief Engineer ensure that tasks such as start-up and shut-down procedures, electrical troubleshooting, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, or other systems are completed according to policies and procedures. As well as completing daily production workload in a timely manner, consistently providing quality standards in all areas of laundry operations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform Ph, acid and probe testing daily and logged appropriately
- Maintain, service, and repair all models of commercial laundry equipment including but not limited to washers, driers, ironers, boilers, extractors, presses, stackers, and other machinery used.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, issues and rebuild pumps, valves, regulators as needed while utilizing an excellent understanding of steam/thermal systems.
- Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments on: tunnel, ironer rail system, plant compressor, gas dryers, team tunnels, pressure tunnels and Chicago folding machines
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and service water treatment plant machinery and equipment, including pumps, valves, valve actuators, motors, engines, meters, drives, tanks, reservoirs, compressors, chemical feed and storage systems, UV disinfection systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and other equipment typical of a water treatment facility.
- Install and rebuild pumps, motors, piping systems, and specialized water treatment equipment.
- Fabricate parts and equipment; operate welding, cutting, and general fabrication equipment.
- Pack, lubricate, clean, and paint mechanical equipment and motors.
- Inspect newly installed mechanical equipment to ensure safe and satisfactory operation and functionality.
- Ensures work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret technical operation and repair manuals.
- Effectively participate with and manage preventive maintenance schedule on all laundry equipment.
- Establish an organized laundry inventory system for purchasing of all parts & materials.
- Provide exceptional Leadership and training to all Engineering team.
- Provide technical training to the laundry team. Maintain a constant awareness of safety problems and report unsafe conditions and exposures to laundry manager.
- Must understand and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Effectively manage daily maintenance requests to minimize equipment down-time and continually improve operational processes.
- Strictly adhering to all safety rules, policies and procedures required by Alsco, law, and what is recognized as common practice in the industry.
- Keep accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
- Interact with all colleagues in a professional manner
- Comply with all Federal, State and local laws.
- Hands-on working knowledge and abilities of commercial/industrial boiler and fan systems; Ensure code compliance; prepare for inspections of boiler and water waste water systems
- Diagnose ph probe and control alkaline injections into waste water pit.
- Manage heat exchange and diagnose as needed
- Work on commuter belt and diagnose as needed
- Maintaining logs, records and reports of serviced equipment
- Experience with 24/7 operation
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5years hands on experience in a laundry maintenance or similar operation
- Boiler licensing preferred
- Must be able to maintain high levels of confidence.
- Maintain a working knowledge of policies and procedures and their proper application.
- Minimum of five years maintenance engineering experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder and boiler applications.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3 phase 230 volt systems.
- Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
- Quantifiable working knowledge of Weishi systems, dyers, folders, sorting, binding, etc. equipment preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot issues in a timely manner
- Ability to shift priorities and changing demands
- OSHA compliance
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time; able to bend, stretch reach and stoop on a continual basis
- Spanish speaking helpful
- Strong abilities with MS Office and Google Suite
Education
- High school graduate or equivalency. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prefer at least 5 years direct experience
- Knowledge and local, state and federal safety and compliance guidelines

Environmental Conditions
Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature, noise, odors, humidity, lint and dust, in general offices or on outside grounds. Water treatment plant and field environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, potentially hazardous chemicals, electrical energy, and inclement weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions; work around water; work on slippery, uneven, surfaces; work in confined spaces; routinely climb ladders, stairs; regularly work near moving mechanical parts; and work around moderately loud noise levels; incumbents must be available to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
