Job Description

The R&D Engineering Technician will collaborate with New Product and Process Development engineers in the medical device sector. This role involves operating large specialty equipment such as laser cutting machines, coating application tools, electroplating devices, and laboratory measurement tools. The technician will address complex manufacturing challenges and ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment, while maintaining high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineers with technical tasks as needed.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions for preparing medical device components for various processes.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities, effectively communicating priorities to stakeholders.
  • Program laser patterns to match customer specifications, ensuring required positions and tolerances.
  • Provide laser ablated samples to engineering for sales efforts.
  • Apply coatings to medical devices.
  • Clean and organize work areas.
  • Assist engineering in designing tooling for production.
  • Interface with Quality personnel to develop inspection procedures.
  • Resolve problems as they arise and seek assistance in a timely manner.
  • Support engineers on time-sensitive projects and assist with issues that could prevent meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Conduct process qualification runs (OQ & PQ).
  • Maintain quality, process control, corrective actions, cleanliness, and safety.

Essential Skills

  • Engineering and troubleshooting skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement.
  • Two-year technical degree or comparable experience is preferred.
  • Experience with laser cutting and validation processes.
  • Proficiency in using an optical microscope.
  • Chemical process experience or chemical safety knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills to execute engineering tasks in the lab.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Desire to remain in the same job long-term for extensive process training.
  • Ability to interface with Quality personnel for inspection procedures.
  • Capability to assist engineering in designing tooling for production.
  • Room for growth within the role.

Work Environment

The position requires working onsite, primarily in a lab or production environment (70-75% of the time). The facility is currently located in southern Anoka, with a planned move to a new building in northern Anoka by the end of August.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anoka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
