INTRODUCTION:
This position serves all Raleigh Radiology offices located in Wake County, NC, and surrounding areas.
Facilities Maintenance Technician & Courier
A dual-role position responsible for maintaining all Raleigh Radiology outpatient centers and ensuring secure, timely delivery of parcels, films, CDs, and materials between Raleigh Radiology locations, WakeMed, referring offices, billing, and external partners. This role supports operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance, and coordinates with management to schedule and update projects. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Maintenance
- Coordinate service requests and preventive maintenance for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other systems.
- Liaise with property managers for exterior and common area maintenance.
- Perform or coordinate cosmetic repairs (painting, flooring, cabinetry, etc.).
- Manage relationships with vendors (janitorial, waste disposal, pest control, security, etc.).
- Negotiate and vet service contracts for quality and cost-effectiveness.
Safety & Infection Control
- Conduct OSHA and DHS inspections across all facilities.
- Develop and maintain fire and disaster plans, lead emergency drills.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies.
- Report and follow up on unsafe conditions or equipment.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of safety equipment.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain and review equipment service contracts; seek competitive bids.
- Coordinate with radiologists on new equipment needs.
- Manage procurement and installation of equipment for new facilities.
- Oversee construction and installation projects.
- Maintain service records and ensure preventive maintenance compliance. Seeks quotes and service contracts for all new equipment purchases, including for new facilities
- New facility project management to include construction, installations, inspections, equipment, etc.
- Maintain a close relationship and serve as a liaison with the Alliance for MRI service
- Schedule and maintain records of all equipment service and preventative maintenance. Ensure that all equipment receives recommended PM according to the manufacturer and regulatory guidelines
Courier Duties
- Deliver and pick up parcels, packages, medical records, CDs, and other materials.
- Maintain a routine delivery schedule to ensure timely service.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance when handling PHI.
- Assist with transporting non-patient items such as furniture and equipment between offices.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness.
- Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding delivery needs.
- Report issues promptly to the Sr. Manager of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs or to the location Managers.
- Support team members and contribute to a positive, service-oriented work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience in facilities maintenance, courier services, or related field preferred.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (e.g., furniture, equipment).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and facility safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to service excellence.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree related to facilities or project management with equitable experience.
- Experience: 2-3 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, preferred in a hospital or healthcare entity. Experience with OSHA and Department of Health regulations and inspections. Experience with ACR and radiology/radiation safety regulations preferred.
- Licensure: Valid North Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must maintain current auto insurance coverage meeting minimum state liability requirements
