SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Communications & Social Media Specialist supports the organization's internal and external communications by creating engaging content, managing digital communication channels, coordinating with third-party communications vendors, and analyzing social media performance. This position helps ensure consistent messaging, strengthens public engagement, and supports organizational goals through strategic communications initiatives
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.
EXPERIENCE
- Over two years, up to and including four years
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Two to five years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or social media management.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
- Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools.
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
- Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and present recommendations to leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and social media best practices.
- Ability to interpret analytics and identify trends.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Customer service mindset and professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island
- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions
