What You Will Do
As a Fleet Diesel Technician, you will help keep our fleet and equipment operating safely and efficiently by
- Performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and troubleshooting equipment
- Completing preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
- Maintaining accurate and organized service records
- Working alongside a skilled team in a clean and well equipped shop

Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours: 7am - 330pm
Position Summary
Provides support for the vehicle maintenance department by diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical problems and repairing subsequent problems.
Essential Job Functions
- Diagnose and repair class 8 trucks, trailers and cars using diagnostic tools
- Repair refrigeration units on trailers
- Lift heavy parts such as wheels, tires, brake drums, batteries, springs, etc.
- Perform vehicle preventive maintenance
- Operate equipment when troubleshooting and testing when repairs are made
- Keep accurate records of repairs and inspections
- Possess own tools to perform assigned tasks
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one with us
- Must be insurable for auto insurance coverage and possess a valid driver’s license
- Is regular in attendance and complies with the Company Attendance Policy
Competencies
- Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines and electrical systems
- Working knowledge of suspension systems, steering, brakes, HVAC and preventative maintenance
- Process strong troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret manuals diagnostic tools
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics and instructions
- Knowledge of trailer refrigeration units
- Knowledge of D.O.T. regulation
- Skilled in proper and safe procedures associated with vehicle repairs
- Ability to work well with others and at times with minimal supervision
Education and Experience
- Diesel Tech Program graduate or currently enrolled in a Diesel Tech program

- Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use computers. (75–100%)
- Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and customers. (75–100%)
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via virtual platforms. (75–100%)
- Reading/Data Analysis: Ability to read and analyze data on a computer screen and in printed materials. (24–49%)
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand and walk/maneuver around equipment safely. (75–100%)
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to climb on ladders, lifts and equipment. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl and kneel to perform job duties. (75–100%)
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently (25-49%)
- Travel: Ability to travel between locations as required. (0–24%)
- Work Environment: Ability to work in an operational environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and equipment movement when applicable. (75–100%)
- Safety Requirements: Must comply with all safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in operational areas. (75–100%)
