Associate Help Desk Specialist
Location: Big Lake, MN (On-Site Only)
Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Associate Help Desk Specialist to join our team in Big Lake, MN. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build experience in IT support while developing strong foundational skills in cybersecurity monitoring, system maintenance, and client service.
This is a fully in-person position with occasional travel to client locations. Remote work is not available.
This position offers hands-on learning and growth opportunities within cybersecurity, network management, and IT procurement.
Core Responsibilities

Review cybersecurity and service dashboards daily, identifying potential issues and escalating to the appropriate technician as needed

Set up new user accounts, workstations, and mobile devices for onboarding and replacements

Perform monthly network maintenance for all managed clients, ensuring systems are updated, secure, and performing optimally

Coordinate Northstar Technology Solutions’ hardware procurement activities by researching compatible equipment, preparing and tracking quotes, placing orders, and managing associated invoicing

Create and manage service tickets in ConnectWise

Document resolutions and update the internal knowledge base to maintain accuracy and consistency across the support team
Help Desk Support Responsibilities (Skills to Be Developed)
As you gain experience and complete company-provided training, you’ll work toward:

Responding to technical support requests via phone, email, or ticketing system

Troubleshooting hardware, software, printer, and network connectivity issues

Providing remote desktop support for Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Teams, and related applications

Developing skills in hardware procurement, system design, and higher-level technical support

Escalating more complex issues to Level II or III technicians when appropriate
Qualifications

Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and basic networking concepts

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Big Lake and for on-site client visits

Ability to use a double-eared headset and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
