Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Manager to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site role responsible for overseeing all aspects of our pest management program. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in horticulture and a passion for maintaining optimal plant health through smart, data-driven pest control strategies.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the nursery's IPM and chemical control program in accordance with established schedules and protocols
- Direct, train, and supervise IPM staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant pest management practices
- Plan and allocate chemicals, equipment, and personnel to support effective and cost-efficient IPM operations
- Scout and monitor nursery crops for insects, weeds, and diseases, and implement proactive control strategies
- Ensure all chemical applications are performed safely and in full compliance with WPS, label requirements, and all applicable regulations
- Collaborate closely with growers to align pest management strategies with sound horticultural practices
- Maintain open communication across departments to ensure plant health standards are consistently met for sales and distribution
- Build and strengthen the IPM department to support optimal plant quality and performance
What We're Looking For
- Expertise in horticulture and general nursery care practices
- Strong knowledge of integrated plant pest management techniques and strategies
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing a team and handling employee relations
- Ability to accurately identify disease, insect, and weed issues
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accurate recordkeeping
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field preferred (not required)
- Certified Pesticide Applicator's License preferred, or willingness to obtain
