This role focuses on commercial electrical construction and installation, including bending and running conduit, pulling various types of wiring, installing fixtures and switchgear, and troubleshooting electrical systems on high-profile job sites. You will work from prints and schematics to complete EMT and electrical conduit installations, ensuring all work meets safety standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Bend and install EMT and other electrical conduit accurately according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Run conduit on open-concept ceilings and throughout commercial spaces, including heavy pipe and wire installations.
- Pull MC and BX wiring and other electrical conductors safely and efficiently across designated circuits and pathways.
- Perform electrical construction and installation tasks, including rough-in and finish work for commercial projects.
- Install lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, and related electrical devices in a clean and professional manner.
- Read and interpret wiring schematics, prints, and blueprints to plan and execute electrical layouts and installations.
- Install and work with switchgear and related electrical distribution equipment as required by the project.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and circuits to identify issues and implement effective repairs or adjustments.
- Follow detailed directions from site leadership and coordinate tasks with other trades on a busy commercial job site.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times on a high-profile mixed-use building project.
- Adhere to all OSHA and site safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and compliance with site regulations.
- Use appropriate hand tools and cordless drills to complete conduit, wiring, and fixture installation tasks.
- Support the installation of finish fixtures in a commercial environment while protecting completed finishes and maintaining site cleanliness.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience as a journeyman electrician, preferably in commercial electrical construction.
- Proficiency in bending and installing EMT and other types of electrical conduit, including heavy pipe.
- Strong ability to run conduit on open-concept ceilings and within commercial building layouts.
- Experience pulling MC and BX wiring and other electrical conductors in a commercial setting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, wiring schematics, and blueprints accurately.
- Hands-on experience with electrical construction and installation, including both rough and finish work.
- Skill in installing lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, and other electrical devices to code and specification.
- Experience working with switchgear and electrical distribution equipment.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues on job sites.
- OSHA 30 certification, with the ability to comply with safety requirements at all times on site.
- SST 10 DOB certification as required for work on regulated commercial job sites.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions and work independently while coordinating with a team.
- Professional conduct and reliability in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Full mechanic-level skill set as a journeyman electrician, including use of standard hand tools and cordless drills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Five to seven years of commercial electrical experience on large-scale or high-profile projects.
- Previous experience on highly regulated commercial job sites with strict safety and cleanliness standards.
- Comfort working in mixed-use buildings and high-visibility environments where attention to detail is critical.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades.
- Proven ability to manage time and tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines on short- and long-term assignments.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Medford, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
