- Strong interpersonal and listening skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Flexible, adaptive, and collaborative approach to working with students and educational staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation between students, staff, and peers
- Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, activities, and meetings
- Adapt interpreting style to various subjects and communication needs
- Ensure access to the curriculum in alignment with each student’s IEP or 504 plan
- Maintain professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality at all times
- Offer support and clarification to students as requested, while preserving independence
- Gather and relay relevant classroom details to aid in service delivery and student understanding
