Intern I – Technical
Overview

Responsibilities

Assist in creating 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings using [e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other software].

Support mechanical design and prototyping activities.

Conduct basic engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection.

Participate in product testing and validation efforts; help set up and record test data.

Work with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, and quality.

Help with documentation such as BOMs (Bills of Materials), test reports, and process instructions.

Perform research on components, vendors, and new technologies.

Attend team meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing classes in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Completed coursework in:
-
Science, Research, Technology (SRT): Java, C++, Biology, Physics

AP Course: AP Environmental Science, AP U.S. Government, AP Biology, AP Statistics

Mathematics: Algebra 2, (preferred: including Trigonometry, Statistics, Pre-Calculus)

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Java, Python, Windows.

Familiarity with tactical radios and lab environments.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, and twist
- Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Clearance:
- DoD secret level or the ability to obtain one.
Education & Experience:
- Attending school.
- Previous experience as an intern or school projects involving the software or engineering processes.
Location:
- Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
- Monday-Friday 8:00 to 5:00 EST.
