Position Overview:
The Cleaning Technician is responsible for preparing welded assemblies for final finishing processes such as powder coating or polishing. This role involves cleaning and polishing welds, performing quality checks to identify missing or incorrect welds, and assisting with final assembly details as needed. The Cleaning Technician works closely with the fabrication team to support efficient production while safely operating cleaning equipment and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean welds on new welded assemblies to prepare them for further finishing processes, such as powder coating or polishing.
- Perform quality control checks while cleaning weldments to identify any missing or incorrect welds, ensuring the highest quality standards.
- Polish welds to achieve a shiny aluminum finish as needed for specific assembly requirements.
- Assist in putting the finishing touches on new assemblies, which may involve attaching casters or applying Velcro.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and cleanliness guidelines.
- Follow established cleaning and quality control procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency of the fabrication process.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure seamless workflow and efficient assembly.
- Safely operate cleaning and finishing equipment and tools.
- Keep records of completed work, inspections, and any identified issues or discrepancies.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in cleaning and quality control in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Attention to detail and strong observation skills to spot missing or incorrect welds.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and finishing techniques for metal and other materials.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning and finishing tasks, including lifting and moving assemblies.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.
- Willingness to work as part of a team to achieve production goals.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and provide quality control feedback.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50-75 lbs. independently and heavier loads with team assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, climb, and reach regularly throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely operate tools and equipment.
- Stamina to perform physical tasks for extended periods, often in fast-paced or time-sensitive environments.
- Ability to work in varied conditions, including indoor warehouse environments and outdoor job sites, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Must be able to wear and properly use all required PPE (personal protective equipment), including safety harnesses, helmets, and gloves.
- Ability to working in an industrial environment with moderate to high levels typical of a CNC machine shop.
- Keep staging equipment organized, clean and stored in the proper designated areas.
Working Conditions:
This position is performed in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations, frequent exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Shift schedules may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on business needs.
