Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Bronx, NY
Duration: 12 Months
Position Overview
The Network Engineer will report to the EITS Unified Communications Jacobi Assistant Director and will be responsible for the support, administration, optimization, and documentation of enterprise network and telecommunications systems across hospital and clinical facilities.
This role requires strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies, VoIP systems, and RightFax enterprise architecture. The engineer will troubleshoot complex network issues, manage infrastructure projects, and ensure the reliability and availability of mission-critical IT services across multiple healthcare facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Infrastructure Support

Provide support, administration, and optimization of enterprise network systems across hospital sites and clinics.

Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex network failures and performance issues.
-
Monitor and maintain availability of mission-critical network and telecommunication services.
-
Perform network capacity, performance, and optimization reviews.
Voice & Unified Communications
-
Provide support for Cisco VoIP systems, PBX components, and IP telephony networks.
-
Configure and install Cisco IP phones using CUCM (Cisco Unified Communications Manager).
-
Manage Cisco Unity Connection for voicemail systems.
-
Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco VG224 Analog Gateways.
-
Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) for voice infrastructure.
RightFax Administration
-
Provide daily support and administration of RightFax enterprise systems.
-
Troubleshoot RightFax incidents and system performance issues.
-
Ensure integration with enterprise applications and network services.
Network Design & Implementation
-
Plan, design, configure, install, and support enterprise-level network infrastructure.
-
Implement and support networking technologies including:
-
LAN / WAN / WLAN
-
VPN
-
VLANs
-
Network Load Balancers
-
Wireless Access Points
-
QoS and network traffic optimization
-
-
Support routing protocols including:
-
BGP
-
EIGRP
-
MPLS
-
Telecom & Carrier Systems
-
Work with telecommunications carriers during implementations, upgrades, and outages.
-
Support mobile carrier and radio carrier systems.
-
Oversee Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) across enterprise locations.
-
Maintain telecommunications equipment, circuits, and phones.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
-
Analyze converged network traffic and generate performance reports.
-
Perform trend analysis to resolve recurring network issues.
-
Troubleshoot technologies including:

NAT
-
SNMP
-
ACLs
-
TACACS
-
RADIUS
-
Network Access Control (NAC)
-
Network Security & Compliance
-
Support network security configurations and firewall management.
-
Ensure compliance with federal regulations and audit requirements.
-
Follow internal change management and release management procedures.
Project Leadership
-
Lead small to medium network infrastructure projects.
-
Participate in technology evaluation and implementation of new network solutions.
-
Support disaster recovery planning and testing for network infrastructure.
Team Leadership
-
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.
-
Assist in training and knowledge transfer within the team.
-
Contribute to improving network processes, standards, and operational efficiency.

Required QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields:

Economics / Statistics

Related technical field
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in:

Network engineering
-
Telecommunications systems
-
Enterprise infrastructure support
-
-
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks.
-
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Certifications (Preferred / Required)

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Required / Strongly Preferred
-
Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) – Preferred
-
Equivalent Cisco networking certification or relevant experience may be considered.
