Position: Engineering Lead
Location: Valley Green, PA
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking an Engineering Lead to join our team in Valley Green, PA.
High speed cable backplane systems enable most of the world's IT and datacom; including leading the way for the AI/ML revolution; and require some of the most advanced manufacturing technologies, and highest levels of precision, in the engineering world. These challenges require the most creative, technical minds, and ultimately provide the most rewarding experience for an engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage projects, resources, and engineering communication during the design, development, and testing of components, hardware, and mechanical systems for custom cable connections to high density PCBAs.
- Oversee project timelines, ensuring that milestones and deliverables are met on schedule; communicating across internal business units and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including signal integrity engineering, product management, and manufacturing, to ensure cohesive product development.
- Develop and implement engineering development processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Manage resource allocation and budgeting for hardware development projects.
- Ability to take on full programs as a development engineer until a new team is onboarded; provide technical guidance and mentorship as needed, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Direct the growth plan for the team, including scaling resources to support business growth, taking an active part in the interview and recruitment process, and the onboarding/training of new hires.
- Conduct performance reviews and support the professional growth of team members.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, Master’s degree or MBA a plus
- Past experience / competency in computer aided engineering analysis a plus
- Experience in hardware development, including precision components and/or sheet metal. Electrical connectors and cable harnessing experience a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role within a mechanical development team, ideally within the hardware space.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with parametric CAD tools (Creo / SolidWorks).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
