WHAT SETS US APART:Unlike traditional hospitality environments, we are not open 365 days a year. We only host groups up to 60 people with a minimum two-night stay. THE ROLE
Support our culinary team at a serene retreat. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment to ensure high-quality food service for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while respecting the peaceful retreat setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly, operating dishwashing equipment as needed.
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen and dining surfaces (counters, sinks, tables, floors, food carts, walk-ins, and storage areas), including regular sweeping, mopping, and trash/recycling/compost removal per waste management guidelines.
- Support kitchen staff by keeping tools and equipment clean and available, assisting with basic food prep, receiving/storing deliveries, and delivering food to dining spaces as needed.
- Monitor and report cleaning supply needs, equipment malfunctions, spills, or safety issues to supervisors promptly.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and chemical handling/storage protocols.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff during meal service, special events, or large group meals.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No direct supervisory responsibilities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Prior experience in a dishwashing or kitchen cleaning role is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to safely operate dishwashing equipment and follow chemical handling/storage guidelines.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- A positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on retreat schedules.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Works in an indoor kitchen with exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals, as well as outdoor exposure to cold, snowy, high-elevation terrain when moving between areas.
- Shares small workspaces with team members, especially during busy service periods.
- Must be able to flex availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with shifts up to 10 hours.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain well-paced and mobile for up to 4 hours at a time, multiple times per shift, including frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm movement.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Must have the visual acuity (including peripheral vision) and hearing (in loud environments) needed to work safely and attentively.
- Exposed to hazards including slipping, tripping, broken glass, hot liquids, and hot food.
